1. Where do you look to for inspiration during your design process?

Honestly it’s pretty random. I look to vintage clothing, textiles, and furniture most often. But sometimes I’ll just see things when I’m out in the city and just snap a photo and revisit when I’m in the depths of my creative moments. It could be anything from a little drawing on a wall or the pairing of colors on a building to famous art pieces in a gallery. I also look to runway shows for the season I’m designing for so I can gauge what the common themes are for the season.

2. What is your dream collaboration?

Ahh, this is so tough. It's so hard to pick just one designer.

After seeing Miu Miu’s FW21 collection, I would absolutely love to collaborate with them. I loved their use of texture and color with oversized androgynous pieces paired juxtaposed with feminine and delicate silhouettes. I would also love to collaborate with JW Anderson, Acne Studios, Marni, MSGM, or Collina Strada.

3. What is your current favorite piece of clothing that you own?

My current favorite piece in my wardrobe is this silly pair of Velcro Black/Blue Acne Studios sneakers. They’re super clunky, comfortable, and honestly they make this simplest of outfits feel funky and edgy.

I would have to say my blue Balenciaga Blanket crossbody bag paired with a LV strap is a close second! She was a killer second hand find.

4. What advice would you give to your younger self?

Intern as much as you possibly can!!!

When I was a Sophomore in college, I interned for a small local handbag company HARVEYS as a design intern. It was hands down the best experience I could have ever received as a young designer. It was there that I really developed Ai and PSD skills. The internship later turned into a summer full time gig in Design/ Technical Design before I moved up to San Francisco. An unforgettable experience working on projects for Disney with such a unique and talented team!

5. What advice would you give to your future self?

Something about myself that might surprise people is my love for anime! I’ve always been a fan of Pokémon and Mario ever since I was 12 years old. I don’t know why people perceive me as this woman who isn’t a kid at heart. I still have Nintendo game consoles til this day. It gives me a sense of youth and is low-key therapeutic sometimes.
